In 2007, the first cross-border Spatial Data Infrastructure (IDE-OTALEX) between Alentejo and Extremadura was established, later including the Centro region in 2011. This observatory allows monitoring and analyzing the impact of natural and human activities on the territory, supporting planning and sustainable development efforts.
